Ashley has been training dogs in the Pacific Northwest since 2017. Over the years she has had the opportunity to learn from many mentors and has gathered vast knowledge of both balanced and purely positive training.
Ashley has always been an avid lover of nature and animals. Growing up, she could be found in the backyard training her childhood dog or at the barn riding her horse. Ashley attended Western Washington University where she graduated with a degree in Environmental Science. She loved this program but found her passion of animals pulling her back. In 2016, Ashley began working at a local board and train facility cleaning kennels and before long found herself accepting an apprenticeship to study under the facility’s trainers.
Ashley worked with dogs of all kinds during this apprenticeship and her subsequent years of training at this facility. She became particularly skilled in working with aggression and behavior modification but also enjoyed general obedience and puppy socialization. Her passion for helping people understand their dogs drives her to keep training, teaching, and learning.
Ashley's passion for agility started when she and her husband adopted their dog Rhu in 2017. Years later, Rhu has multiple agility titles and Ashley has a life long love for the sport.
Rhu was born in October 2017 to a stray dog in Yakima. She and her six litter-mates were rescued by Forgotten Dogs Rescue at about six weeks old. While fostering two of her brothers, Ashley and her husband met Rhu and knew they couldn't pass her up. She joined their family in December 2017.
With her sharp mind and goofy personality, Rhu has been fun to work with and quick to learn. She has extensive training in agility but has also dabbled in barn hunt, rally, obedience, scent work, and tricks. Her impeccable work ethic and ability to focus in new environments, makes her an ideal demo dog.
When not training, Rhu loves hiking, kayaking, chasing rabbits, and lounging around at home.
Ashley first met Marion in 2016 when Marion was about 3 years old. Marion had little interest in interacting with humans and was very nervous. It took them 3 months to become friends. Ashley originally brought Marion home to foster while she awaited her forever home. However, their bond grew quickly and Marion never left.
When Ashley first adopted Marion, she was told that she could never take her any where off leash because Marion would run off and never be seen again. Through lots of time, training, and patience, Marion is now a reliable off leash hiking partner who loves exploring. She is still unsure of new people and new environments but handles them much better knowing she has Ashley by her side.
Marion has had training in agility, barn hunt, rally, scent work, and tricks. She will never pass up the opportunity to strut her stuff for a treat and truly enjoys when the family goes kayaking or camping!
